Guy Clark's Ancient Coins and Antiquities

Bargain Boxes

Updated: 13 May 2008 - NEW COINS ADDED, mostly in the $15 - $20 Roman categories

This category will be an assortment of Greek, Roman and Byzantine coins (with other miscellaneous items as well from time to time) arranged by price. Descriptions will be brief (but major detractions will be noted) and prices will not be listed with each coin but will be found in the headings. Each item in the group under a heading will be at that price and for many of the more common types I may have substitute lots in case the one listed is sold. When ordering, please state if substitutes are acceptable. All substitutes will be at least as nice as the lot described, some better. The coins on this page carry the same guarantees and return privileges as all other coins (14 days for any reason). The items are loosely arranged under the subtitles of Greek, Roman, etc., but look thoroughly as all items are not necessarily in order within these subheadings. Happy hunting.

Greek Coins, including Greek Imperial

The numbers following Greek bronzes (e.g., AE15) denotes the diameter of the coin in millimeters. The number following late Roman bronzes (e.g., AE3) denotes a size range for these coins where AE1 (25mm and above)is the largest, AE2 (21-25mm) next largest, AE3 (17-21mm) is the most common size, and AE4 is the smallest (under 17mm). These actual sizes will vary somewhat if the flan is thicker than usual.

Note: Cheap Greek coins are getting harder and harder to find, even in large lots. I am not sure how much longer this $5 Greek AE category will last as a regular feature. I have pretty much depleted most of what I had and have not been able to find anything lately to add to it, so I will add to it as I can.
